Established in 1970, leagues were organized at University
Gardens Public School and Fisher's Mill Park for boys. As the popularity
of soccer grew, a separate girls club was formed and both thrived in
the community. In 2007, the Dundas Youth Soccer Club was enlarged to include
girls following the dissolution of the Dundas Girls Soccer Club.
Dundas Youth Soccer Club is a summer institution for hundreds of families who live in the
Town of Dundas and the surrounding communities of Greensville,
West Flamborough, Copetown, Ancaster and Westdale. It is the fifth largest soccer
club in the City of Hamilton, serving 1,500 players. Dundas Youth Soccer Club offers an
outdoor House League for boys and girls 4 years old and up, as well as, a
range of Competitive Teams. With
the support of hundreds of volunteers, DYSC provides the opportunity to learn
the fundamentals of the game, develop indivual skills, strong
teamwork and respect.
Club games are played at Olympic Sports Park, Sanctuary Park, Veteran's Park, Couldrey Park
and Fisher's Mill Park. Practices are held at school fields such as Dundana,
Yorkview, Highland, Spencer Valley, Osler, St. Bernadettes and Dundas Montessori
as well as, other available green space such as Dundas Driving Park, Little
John Park and Centennial Butterfly Park. Divisions range from under 4 through
18 years of age where children 10 and under play 7 aside soccer.
Approximately 20 percent of registered Dundas Youth Soccer Club players play on competitive
teams. Select teams play in the Hamilton & District multi-jurisdictional league while
Rep players compete in the South Region Soccer League (SRSL). The Club is a member of the
Hamilton & District Soccer Association and Ontario Soccer Association. |
